Remembering those who've crossed the rainbow bridge.

He never got over his fear aggression, had numerous trainers. But I was his human and he was my constant companion. In Wizard’s perfect world, it would be he and I, long walks, and chasing lizards around the swimming pool. Rest in peace my little baby. Leona

Love by the Novak family and MMR. When your beautiful heart stopped beating, our hearts broke in two, knowing that here on earth there will never be another one like you. Rest sweet baby

I know we should not have favorites, but Sagar (nick name Pootie) was one of mine. Maybe it was the absolute despicable conditions he was subjected to before we got him, maybe it was because he was our first full mastiff and it was a bit of a leap of faith on our part, or maybe it was because of his awesome soulful eyes and his face which conveyed so much emotion, but I will miss him very much. The Pootie was such a gentle soul and was a joy to be around. The Rudolph Family

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." We will miss you Mac. Rest in Peace

A true survivor, rest in peace sweet angel

This is where you leave us Duke - too soon that is for sure. Your heart was big, your soul was kind, the love you gave was pure. The day you came into our life, we hoped we’d never part. You’re gone from sight, but not from mind, you live on in our heart. -The Repella Family-

In loving memory of Jess Cook, beloved Pug of Kathy and Steve Cook. With deepest sympathy, Nancy Brady

I was recently reminded that we are all but of ashes, and to ashes we shall return. And last week our dear little Sophie returned to her true forever home. Sophie was an abused puppy mill mama. But, she was a survivor and nobody could break her spirit. Sophie was the sweetest dog you'd ever meet, and she taught us a lot about kindness, and forgiveness. We were blessed to spend three years with her, and now she's a little angel in heaven. Rest in peace, Sophie. We love you and miss you!

It's with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our buddy boy Marvin. We adopted him over 2 years ago and he was not it good health. We took the trip with our other pug to pick him up and we knew he was meant to be with us, he was instantly a part of our family. As hard as it was to let him go, we will treasure the time and memories made with him over the past 2 years and 4 months. We already miss him and will love him always! Thank you to Mutts Matter Rescue for bringing Marvy into our lives and

Yesterday morning we had to say goodbye to Sunny D’Lite. We adopted him 2yrs ago from MMR,& he was the sweetest, most loving dog ever. I had the privilege of fostering him, and was a “foster failure” from the beginning. Sunny was blind in one eye, had been shot with a shot gun, and had suffered alot. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I do not regret for a minute adopting a senior dog with “issues. The love we received from him was worth every minute. Leona Pekin

Charlie Bear was a fighter, and a dear sweet soul. He was a gentle spirit with a strong will, filled with pure goodness. When we took him into rescue from a local shelter, we weren't told he had a bad heart. But it didn't matter. We were determined to make him better. We gave him every chance to beat the odds. We knew your time with us would be short, but we are grateful for what we did have, and the gifts you showed us. God Speed

It is by far the most heavy hearted of rescues that cut our time short with the animal we have given our hearts too. And as rescuers, even when we are only left with days or weeks, we still can make a difference in the life of an abused and neglected animal. It is through those rescues that we learn that our mission is not about quantity of time; it's about using whatever time we have left to show kindness before we must say good bye. Abe taught us all a lot about forgiveness; Rest in peace Abe

As rescuers, we know how to fix the broken limbs, lift the broken spirits and make things right for those that cross our paths. We know we can't save them all but we try. But sometimes, life puts a special case in front of us that we can't fix...all we can do is provide lots of love. Major was one of those cases. He gave us more than he took. He made us laugh, made us cry and ultimately took a piece of our hearts with him when he left us. We are grateful he found his "home" in his last months.

He was truly an "Abe"--"WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE AND CHARITY FOR ALL." In loving memory, The Klass Family

Lucy was abandoned as a puppy in the Pecos Wilderness area of New Mexico, and found her way to the St. Francis of Assisi room at the Benedictine Monastery there, where a friend of ours was doing a private retreat. Our friend brought this scared and scrawny puppy to us, and through love and careful care, Lucy overcame her fright and shyness and has been a sweet, gentle and loving companion for more than 15 years. Everyone who came into contact with her remarked on how beautiful and sweet she was.

Our beloved Piper left us only 19 months after joining our family. She gave us the best 19 months & even though she died much too soon, we would not change a day, an hour, a minute of our time with her. What a special soul she was! It's hard to put into words how her spirit and charm made you love her instantly. She was an old girl when she came to us & was the fastest foster failure we've ever had. There will never be another Piper, but she will always occupy a special place in our hearts.

In Loving Memory. Saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing we've ever had to do. A part of our hearts will always be with you. We know that you are now in a place where you are young, free of pain, and happy; But we can't help but miss you every day. We are broken hearted without you. Your brother Barney misses you very much too, and looks for you every where. We will see you on the other side my angel. Just know that no one could have loved you more than we did.

After coming into rescue, Ruby was with us only a few days. Her body had been through so much in her short life, but her spirit was never broken. We are grateful you left this world for the next, knowing you were loved by so many. Your MMR Family~

December 18, 1999 – July 16, 2013. Louis spent 13 years being loved, cherished and adored by Ron and Joyce before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was their sweet boy, loving companion and faithful friend. Louis you will always be loved and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge...

Scooter's original caretaker bought him as a puppy from one of those greedy breeders in December 1999. Upon realizing that he was deaf & hyperactive, she promptly chained him out way in the far corner of her yard. We got him in 2000 when he was a year old. He learned hand & light signals & let his fellow doggie pals become his "ears." He was incredibly affectionate & so tuned into the sense of touch. His ice blue eyes sparkled like diamonds. Loved by Pam Leverett and family.

Life was cut too short for you Henry. Brian and I couldn't have asked for a better, more good natured dog, to share our lives with. We feel it was a true blessing and gift, to be able to have had you in our lives-even for just a short time. We truly did feel like we were the lucky ones. "There are moments in life where you just miss someone so much, that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real"....Charlie Brown With all our love now and forever.

Is it even possible to find an end to the happiness that Tracker brought to our family? It's hard to explain just how special he was to us and what a fighter he's been his whole life. We adopted Tracker from the shelter back in 1998. He was 1 of 8 in his litter - the only survivor.

MMR's recently adopted Sassy lost her fur brother, Tucker, on January 8, 2013, after a brief battle with lymphosarcoma. Tucker was rescued by the Ange family when he was a young pup and was only with them for the 5 short years of his life. Less than 2 weeks after the Ange family adopted Sassy in December, Tucker was diagnosed with the aggressive form of canine cancer. In that short time, Sassy and Tucker became very close, and Sassy brought such comfort and joy to Tucker during his final days.

MMR only had Bambi a few weeks before an infection took over her body. She crossed over the rainbow bridge loved by her foster momma Dawn, as well as her MMR family. We are glad she knew love and kindness in her final days. RIP Sweet angel. Gone but not forgotten.

Shiloh left his loving adopted family about ten weeks past his 15th birthday. Although there were moments that made them relieved that he was one of a kind, he was a gentle and loving dog, always graciously making room for the other creatures in their home. He had two moms in his life – the canine one who was dumped, pregnant, at a local shelter; and the two-legged one who was with him from his sixth week to his last breath.

whose human companion had to say goodbye to his best friend of 13 years on August 27, 2012. Through intelligence, courage and loyalty, Niko showed him the true meaning of unconditional love. Niko was the best companion one could have ever asked for, and he will be missed dearly.

Loved by the MMR family. Gone but not forgotten.

Boomer came into rescue in July of 2012. Once in our care, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Boomer stayed in his foster home with his foster parents and Pug siblings for his remaining days where he got to enjoy the comforts of snuggling in bed and eating ice cream, surrounded with love. Rest in peace Boomer.

On July 28th, 2012 Pippin, a beloved member of our family passed away. He was eleven years old but provided endless joy and companionship. We will miss him dearly. –The Williams Family.

You brought joy each day with every puppy dog kiss and wag of your tail. So many of our favorite memories surround your silly antics and surprises -- from sitting on our heads to wake us up in the morning, to eating treats from our mouths, to making splashes at the local dog pool. Every day was an adventure together.
